Japan to Invest 90Bln Yen to Promote 45nm, 32nm Processes

According to JEITA, Japan will spend 90 billion Yen, 20 billion of which will come from the Japanese government, in promoting next-generation semiconductor production processes and technologies from fiscal 2006 to 2010. The project, to be led by four major chipmakers including Toshiba, Renesas, Fujitsu, and NEC, will aim at the development of 45nm production processes by 2007 and 32nm processes by 2010.
